National Assembly Spokesperson Manzoor Nadir over the weekend distributed children’s gifts along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway and his hometown, Albouystown, Georgetown.
On Sunday, smiles were seen on the faces of the children of Adventure, Silver Hill, Kairuni, Loo Creek, Banakari, Yarrowkabra, Swaan, Kuru Kuru (college) and Laluni along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway as the Speaker distributed toys and goods. In addition, on the same day, he distributed toys to the children of Grove and Herstelling on the east bank of Demerara.
A team of parliamentary officials, including Parliamentary Executive Officer Carlleta Charles along with Speaker Ean Mc Pherson’s Personal Assistant were on site to distribute the gifts.
Charles shared greetings on behalf of the Speaker which was much appreciated by the children in the various locations. The children were also entertained with some dance moves and even got involved in caroling.
The team was assisted by community organizers who made it possible for the children to receive their toys. The Speaker’s Christmas Outreach Program aims to distribute toys to 7000 children in Guyana.
Meanwhile, a similar exercise was held on Saturday, December 19, 2020, in which more than 1000 children from Albouystown, Meadow Bank, and Middle Road, La Penitence area were seen receiving toys.
Nadir, who lived in Albouystown himself, was warmly welcomed by the residents.
He extended Christmas greetings to the children and parents.
Residents of the Meadow Bank area also expressed their gratitude as they received gifts from the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Issacs. Also in attendance at the campaign were Production Technician Alanzo Scipio and several other parliamentary officials.
