President Irfaan Ali and members of the NCA on Tuesday

President Dr Irfaan Ali on Tuesday received a courtesy visit from members of the Novick Cardiac Alliance (NCA) when a range of issues were discussed including capacity building at Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The Novick Cardiac Alliance specializes in sustainable healthcare solutions for children with cardiac disease. Over the years, co-founder of NCA, Dr William Novick has worked with local teams to build and maintain pediatric heart surgery services in the developing world.
His altruistic nature has led him to 46 cities in 32 countries over the past two decades, where he and his team have provided surgery and medical care to 7411 children.
NCA hopes to start a similar program in Guyana. GPHC’s Head of Medical and Cardiology Services, Dr Mahendra Carpen, admitted during the meeting that childhood heart disease is a major issue in Guyana.
Meanwhile, Care Consultant, Smith Sean and a Pediatric Surgeon at the GPHC, Dr Marisa Seepersaud, accompanied Dr Novick.
