Speaking to the media recently, Dr Singh said the region has 39 active cases and believes that once people take the vaccine, the rate will fall.
“The program has intensified in the region and is targeting people aged 18 and over and also people living with a chronic illness. So with us immunizing these people, it will be a great achievement in the region and as such we will be free of COVID, ”said the RHO.
Vaccination sites are available at Charities, Windsor Castle, Dartmouth, Anna Regina, Queenstown, Abram Zuil, Huis’t Diren, and Good Hope Health Centers between 08:00 h and 16:00 h daily. There are also mobile sites where frontline workers are located to administer the vaccines.
On Sunday, the region had a huge COVID-19 Vaccination Drive at Taymouth Manor Primary School, Affiance. The vaccination campaign aims to immunize approximately 500 residents a day in the region.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health advised that individuals should adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and as such vaccine users must still wear their masks, practice social isolation, sanitize, and also avoid huge crowds.
