Kaieteur News – Sponsors continue to roll in for the first round of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sport Club (GMR & SC) Drag racing championship with the latest being Auto Pacific and Spare Parts retailer Trans Pacific, which has thrown its support the behind the event set with ease. for Feb. 28 at the South Dakota Circuit’s Drag Zone.
At Trans Pacific Auto Sales, Lusignan Office, owner Krishna Ramsewack handed over his sponsorship check to GMRSC representative Balram Ramdeo.
Ramdeo, who is also a Ramsewack mechanic, thanked his client on behalf of the GMR & SC for his generous contribution.
As a sponsor, Ramsewack will look to test the power of its engine when it enters the quarter-mile launch pad reinvented in its souped-up Toyota Alteeza.
Team Trans Pacific aims to have their Alteeza, usually piloted by Rameez Mohamed, be able to break Alteeza’s drag record after the latest engine modifications.
The executive committee is moving ahead quickly with preparations for the highly anticipated Covid-19 National Task Force-approved event and since there has been no drag racing since 2019, efforts are being doubled to secure a near-perfect meeting perfect.
According to the GMR & SC, daily competitors confirm their participation and expect a full grid with cars of all classes but more importantly, expect the quarter mile record to be reset a few times with all eyes on Mohamed’s Team garages, S&D Performance (Shawn Persaud) and Balram Auto Mechanics.
Fans shouldn’t worry too much about not being able to see the action live and directly as plans are underway as the event is streamed live.
