Two accusations about DJ stabbing ‘Selector’

Kaieteur News – Yesterday “DJ Raw Gold,” a part-time DJ who allegedly stabbed his ‘Selector’ to his face during a debate at a local radio studio, was charged with two charges.

Wounded: Marlon Williams aka ‘Selector Yannick.’

Bail Given: Clyde Watson aka ‘DJ Raw Gold.’

The defendant, Clyde Watson popularly known as “DJ Raw Gold,” a Second Street customs broker, South West Cummings Lodge, Georgetown, appeared at Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before the Chief Magistrate, Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.
Watson was charged with assaulting a woman, Melissa Duke, on April 10, 2021 in Lance Gibbs Street. It is also alleged that, at the same location and on the same day, he illegally and maliciously wounded Marlon Williams, also known as ‘Selector Yannick.’
He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was given $ 55,000 bail. Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus also placed him on Bond.
Bond means that if the defendant (Watson) is caught in another retrial with the victims, while the matter is ongoing, he could be sentenced to prison. Watson is expected to make his next court appearance on May 3, 2021.
Kaieteur News had reported that on Saturday April 10, Watson last stabbed his ‘Selector’ to his face with a broken Guinness bottle. The stabbing incident reportedly took place around 20:45 hrs. at the Hits and Jams (HJ) Radio Studio located on Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown, Georgetown.

‘Selector Yannick’ and ‘DJ Raw Gold’ work together in happier times at HJ Radio Studio.

Based on new information received by this newspaper, Watson is alleged to have “pushed down” Duke, before wounding Williams.
Watson had reportedly started an argument with Duke, who became physical. Williams, who was nearby, intervened. Watson then turned his attention to Williams. He allegedly picked up a Guinness bottle and put Williams to the surface, breaking her in the process.
Watson then allegedly used the broken bottle to stab Williams at least four times before running away.
Another person, who had witnessed the stabbing, recorded a video with his cellphone showing blood splatters on the walls and floors of HJ Radio Studio as he called for help.
HJ 94.1 had explained that Williams and Watson were independent DJs and paid airtime to broadcast their weekend program.
Following the incident, HJ announced that he had made a decision to suspend the program and its hosts from its airwaves.
