WBD duo stolen from millions by gunmen

Two Demerara men from the West Bank were robbed of millions in cash and jewelry by two armed robbers while dining at a restaurant in Pouderoyen, WBD, on Saturday night.

The robbery, which was captured on CCTV cameras, occurred sometime between 20: 15h and 20: 30h at the HONG XIANG Chinese restaurant located at Lot 15 Pouderoyen, WBD.

The victims are 34-year-old speedboat captain Navindra Kooblall, of La Grange Old Road, WBD, and Leon Dyal, a 33-year-old sales representative who lives in Aron Street, Fortuin Wood, WBD.

Kooblall allegedly robbed six gold chains worth $ 2,145,000; two gold rings are worth $ 220,000; one gold band worth $ 400,000; one largest iPhone pro 11 smartphone worth $ 320,000; one Samsung A17 $ 150,000 worth of mobile phone and US $ 1,500 – total G value $ 3,320,460.

Meanwhile, the gunmen stole Dyal from a single Samsung A50 cellphone worth $ 60,000; $ 155,000 in cash (Guyana currency) and US $ 200 – total G value $ 255,000.

Police said both victims were having a meal when the two unidentified suspects walked into the restaurant and pulled guns at the victims and released them from the mentioned items before compensating for an escape in a white motor car 212.

The matter was reported to the police and the area was searched but the suspects were not seen.

However, many people have been questioned so far.

The investigation is ongoing.
