Kaieteur News – Guyana has known since last August that it would receive vaccines when one was developed and approved. But it’s only now that a 20-person team has been set up. And only this week was the first meeting of dem call dem. Other countries started preparing months ago and India had a dry run. But Guyana is out blocking slowly.
But yes suh we’re waiting. We like confusion. We like to see people lining up. It makes some officials feel powerful that people are picking a line and staying depressed.
Dat is a legacy of days of Guylines. Dem had financiers instead of the dem government selling things that used to be like the Queen. Everyone who commits to tea because it’s a dem gate to give you a slip is getting two pints of cooking oil.
When you go to a beef shop, butcher’s tea used to put nuff bone in yuh order. And yuh gat fuh tek and mek soup is in his wit because he could refuse to sell yuh. Dem had grocery store owners who used to holler pun yuh and threatened to put yuh out of a store. When you go to de bank fuh loan, dem officials used to pick you up waiting a whole day fuh see dem.
Is dat the same mindset we pass down today. The people of the Democrat government like to push yuh around and collect a running round. So no surprise, when it comes time for a vaccine, people from the gate will join for hours.
But dem boys seh dat starting late gate it is beneficial. We can learn from the mistakes of other countries. At the moment things are moving very slowly with de-vaccination and dat being something we can look at and try to avoid when we turn to getting de-lever vaccines.
