… The time must be done
Former President Ramotar received an interesting letter to the press. He noted the direct punitive action taken by the US authorities to the “rebellious” attack on Capitol Hill. And asking simply why that hasn’t happened here in Guyana. The attackers are known for the bulky video streaming in which they enjoyed narcissistic – and, of course, the CC cameras in the building.
Individuals from across the US are now being charged – including an incredible number of people with a military background and the armed forces. Some of the Police guarding the Capitol enabled the rebels and they will have to walk the plank as well. The Head of Police has resigned. And most importantly, there are moves afoot to punish the man who sparked the entire shameful episode in American history – lame duck President Donald Trump. He may either be forced to resign or be forced to.
These official American actions show that while they are not perfect as a democracy – and this will always’ cause “men are not angels” – they are enforcing the laws of the country to punish those who breaks the laws to overturn it. And that’s the only way to assure all our institutions – including democracy. The law cannot be seen as a “Christmas blow blow”! Which is true in Guyana when the PNC is not getting its way.
We don’t have to walk down memory lane to count the ways in which the PNC traced the law to keep itself in power or try to seize power – let’s go back to the “protests” on W Berbice following the murders of Henry’s cousins. As with Trump’s videos motivating his supporters to his extreme act, we have videos of PNC leaders Granger and Harmon making statements even more inflammatory and motivating.
The protests were initiated by local PNC activists after the bodies were discovered. And when Granger and Harmon went to visit the next day, instead of advising the crowd gathered to facilitate the Police investigation, without upsetting evidence, Granger suggested that the murders were politically motivated, and told them to organize “self-defense”! He urged further protest action by insisting “we are not going to suffer this nonsense”! Granger and Harmon must be brought to justice: the motivators must take responsibility.
And as with Capitol Hill rebels, we have several videos circulating of men who listened to Granger’s call, beating, molesting, robbing and humiliating the PPP’s perceived supporters. There was one egregious case where one fella walked up to a bus that had pulled over and punched the driver in the face repeatedly!
They must be punished for the survival of democracy here.

… Have to bring a heel
Your Eyewitness has commented on Maduro’s provocative “decree” on our Essequibo border – as if he’s that Pope yore who could arbitrarily draw a globe on a globe to divide the world between Spain and Portugal! As soon as he takes office in just over a week, President Biden will have to demonstrate, just as America will not back down from doing what it takes to defend democracy within its borders, it will also protect it outside – in this hemisphere at least. .
The overlap by Maduro over in Venezuela is a direct thumb of his nose at the Americans as he once again threatens a large US corporation – Exxon – just as his predecessor Chávez did. Biden would know that Maduro is being aided and strengthened by the Chinese, who have banked it as the economy plunges. Rivers of refugees have already challenged the social services of Venezuela’s neighbors and is an unstable force in the region.
President Biden must defend his country’s underbelly!

… Women are scum
A symptom of our illness as a society is the apparent inexperienced increase in violence against women by their “intimate” partners. Regardless of the individual circumstance, this is only the result of viewing women as property.
