Juvenile detained in prison for killing Bachelor Adventure man

Kaieteur News – Tafari Softley who was recently stabbed by police for murdering a Bachelor Adventure man, whose lifeless body was found along the Bachelor Adventure Access Road back in December, was remanded in jail yesterday.
The 21-year-old defendant made his first court appearance in the Magistrates’ Court before the Magistrate, Fabayo Azore, where the murder charge was read to him.
Softley was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that between December 13 and 14, 2020 at Bachelor’s Adventure Road, East Coast Demerara, he murdered 23-year-old Keith Andrew Willis, known as ‘Ghandi.’ Magistrate Azore remanded the young man to prison and adjourned the matter until April 22, 2021.

It was reported that on December 14, 2020 sometime around 06:10 o’clock, a motionless Willis was found lying on the road with one stab wound to his neck. According to a police report the 23-year-old player left his home on the afternoon of December 13, to attend a community football tournament. Sometime around 20:30 o’clock, detectives were told the competition was over and Willis went to visit his girlfriend who lives at Paradise Housing Scheme. Reports are that he spent a few hours there and around 23:00 hours. he left to go home. However, the young man did not arrive home that night. One day the discovery, Willis was found on the road by a Bachelor Adventure resident while on his way to work. Police were immediately summoned to the scene, arrived shortly thereafter and removed the dead man’s body. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for examination and later sent to the morgue. An inquiry into the matter has been launched.
