Zeelandia overtaking solution – Stabroek News

The Civil Defense Commission (CDC) says the overflow in Zeelandia, Wakenaam, Essequibo River, Region Three, has been rectified and work to strengthen sea defense is ongoing.

The CDC said in a statement last Friday that the flooding had stopped and the water had receded following the flooding that occurred in the area on Thursday. The CDC also said that the Neighborhood Democratic Council (NDC) has ensured that boulders will be laid to strengthen sea defense as well.

The CDC previously said that the nearby rice fields and coconut plantations were flooded with floods but did not directly affect residents. Secretary of the Sea and River Defense Board (S & RDB), Jermaine Braithwaite, told this newspaper that the overlap occurred at the embankment where work was authorized and started late last year. He further explained that in order to mitigate the flooding, the contractor had collected the necessary equipment to build the land.
