Zoe Gilbert is following his dream

After just over two years in the music industry professionally, singer Zoe Anthony Gilbert has recorded over 100 songs and released more than 30. As impressive as it sounds to the 22-year-old player, it’s nothing compared to his dream of one day performing in the American Super Bowl.

Zoe (pronounced Zoy) comes from the small Zorg community on the Essequibo Coast. Although he grew up in church with his mother and other relatives singing, they were never as serious about the art form. Zoe, however, is trying to make a career out of her passion.

While at Suddie Primary School, his teachers built on his talent and often encouraged him to participate in calypso competitions on behalf of the school, which he did. By the time Zoe started attending Anna Regina High School, she didn’t need much encouragement to go on stage. Whenever an occasion and the school celebrated with a concert, he was expected to perform. Before leaving high school, Zoe and several other friends formed a group called Trilla Park Music. The group toured several places around Guyana performing wherever they went. Trilla Park Music has since dissolved. However, fellow group member Nick ‘B-Nick’ Augustine is still serious about music and would occasionally collaborate with Zoe on various music projects. The duo recently worked together “Ride or Die”, which was described as Afro-centric / Dancehall fusion.
